SERF, Squamish's home-grown festival, brings the community together to enjoy live music and life by the sea.
Now in it's fifth year, SERF (the Squamish Equinox Rock Festival) started as a way to gather the community to enjoy our newly accessible ocean front land, an amazing natural resource, and celebrate the changing of the season.
SERF aspires to be a launch pad for talent - local, regional and national.
SERF 2007, the first SERF Music Festival was kicked off by the Sea to Sky Corridor's own Kostaman and the Good Vibrations with their unique music sound and creative mix of Rock, Experimental, World-Beat, Blues and Reggae genres. The Hair Farmers, "the quintessential ski town band" from Whistler, kept fans dancing into the wee hours of the morning.
SERF 2008 featured Hey Rosetta! from St. John's, Newfoundland, a group of 6 very talented musicians who played the Media Club during JunoFest 2009 in Vancouver. Headlining the bill were Five Alarm Funk and Alpha Ya Ya Diallo, both veterans of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
SERF 2009 featured Squamish's own, with the musical talents of The Overcomers, The Dead Heathers, Zombie's Locker and the Jam 'n' Tonics. Mindil Beach Markets got the crowd rockin' and headliner Wassabi Collective finished the evening off with the crowds beginning for more.
SERF 2010 collaborated with "Live At Squamish" presented by Brand Live with their first "Happy times in a big field with great music" Labour Day Weekend music festival. SERF was proud to have one of the three stages that weekend with exciting performances from Tommy Honest and the Liars, John Bottomley, Kate Morgan and Jon & Roy. The SERF stage was written up in the Georgia Straight as "the Hipster Stage" - it was an amazing weekend, and we look forward to Live at Squamish 2011.
SERF has attracted attendees from Washington, Oregon, Alberta, Vancouver, Whistler and, of course, Squamish. We are looking forward to presenting our fifth SERF Music Festival, Saturday June 25th / 2011. See you all soon at Squamish's Party At The Beach!
